Saving Money

Well I’m trying to be a better steward of our family’s money by using sale ads and cutting coupons.  But boy does that take a lot of work and time!  I dropped my youngest off at Mother’s Day Out today and went to Tom Thumb armed with all the grocery sale fliers and coupons.  Our Tom Thumb has a nice new Starbucks inside, so I had to get a coffee while I was working on all the money I was going to save!   Anyways, I combed thru the Tom Thumb ad and matched store coupons and manufacture coupons and made my list.  I did pretty good- I saved $67.83 and earned .10 off a gallon of gas.  And now that I really look at the receipt, I also earned a complementary Starbucks Grande drink!  So there’s my coffee for next week!!

Next I went to CVS to try and take advantage of all the deals they have there.  The website www.dealseekingmom.com has it all broken down what to buy each week.  Well, I’m not quite up to that speed yet.  To get the very best deals and earn Extrabucks for next time, I was supposed to buy headache powder and 6 body washes.  Well I know that some people are very, very good at keeping the items they don’t use and “gifting” them.  But I know me and I’ll forget that I have them.  I also don’t have room to store all that extra body wash!  So I didn’t follow all of the deal seeking mom’s directions, but I still managed to save $27.49 and earned $6 for next time.

I feel really good about today, however it’s taken most of my Mother’s Day Out time and now it’s time to go pick my munchkin up.   So Friday during MDO, I’m not going anywhere and doing what I want to do- like scrapbooking!!

  1. I am so jealous! I would love to have a bit of time to scrapbook, but being the preschool teacher means I’m there with the munchkin! ACK!
