30th Birthday Hat
This post is a bit overdue, but thought I’d go ahead and share my creation. My sister turned 30 last month and her husband and another friend threw her a surprise party. Considering the number of people that were involved and invited, I’m amazed that she didn’t even realize something was going on until the day of her party. And that was only because she went to get her nails done and of course, was running behind and her husband called her to ask when she was going to be home. She said he never does that, so she figured something must have been going on. Smart girl.
One of her friends made her this luau birthday cake. I think she did a fabulous job.
They had a luau theme pool party and I was asked to make her a 30th birthday hat. Hmmm…if you’ve ever tried to search for an example online, you’ll discover there’s just not much out there.
I found this hat at Target and got it for only $2.50. Not bad considering she’ll never wear this beauty again!
Then I added some additional ribbon and flowers and secured with light pink thread.
After I finished the base of the hat, I went ahead and added additional flowers and also the number 30 with thick foil stickers in a few scattered places. In the embellishment section at Hobby Lobby, I found these little confetti plastic things. I have no idea what the correct word is for them. Anyways, I used the hot glue gun to stick them in the center of each flower for a more fun and festive look.
Here’s the final outcome. You know she was proud to wear this beauty! (Ummm….yes, you detected sarcasm.)
