Flip Flop Invitations
As promised, I’m finally getting around to posting the flip flop invitations we made for my daughter’s 8th birthday.
After spending way too much time on the paper isle at Hobby Lobby, I finally made a decision on the paper I wanted to use. I discovered the paper I chose also had ribbon with the same print as the paper! I’m all about having stuff match! The patterned paper was not thick, so I used orange card stock as a support piece on the back.
Step 1: Create a pattern. I did this by using two different sizes of my girl’s flip flops and traced around them onto manilla paper and then I cut it out.
Step 2: I figured out what the saying was going to be for the invitation and after a little trial and error, managed to get the wording to fit inside of the small flip flop pattern, as that is the one that holds the party details.
Step 3: Print the wording on the first layer of paper. A solid color works best for this.
Step 4: Place the pattern over the wording, be sure to center the wording and then trace and cut.
Step 5: Trace and cut out the larger pattern on a patterned sheet of paper and/or cardstock. Again, I did both to make the invitation sturdy. If you’re using both, cut them out at the same time so they’ll have the same shape and go ahead and tape/glue them together.
Step 6: Punch holes in the first layer. This is where you’ll put the ribbon through. I used two pieces of ribbon and taped them on the side underneath.
Step 7: Using double stick tape, center the top layer over the bottom layer.
Step 8: Admire your work!
Keep checking back - I’ll be adding more throughout the week along the flip flop party theme!

Those are ADORABLE! Yay you! I can totally see this for a boy party, too - use camo print instead of floral - how fun would that be?

Well I was looking for a link to contact you but I can’t find one, so hopefully leaving this comment will work.
I LOVE your creativity!
I run a website called http://www.do-it-yourself-invitations.com which is basically much the same as you did here in this post. It’s basically to give people inspiration for making their own invites, and showing them just how to do it.
I would love it if you would consider contributing some of your original ideas to my site. I could link back from any pages you write, right back to this blog. Let me know if you are at all interested and contact me through my website.
Thanks!
