Freecycle
About a month ago, I was introduced to the site www.freecycle.org. You can offer stuff you no longer need to the local group and someone who has a need for the item(s) will reply to let you know they’re interested. You choose who the recipient is and work out arrangements for them to pick up the items. Generally, you place the item by your front door in a bag and give them your address and they pick it up. You don’t usually meet the person, nor is selling or exchanging of money ever involved.
To get the my point about giving, I posted our old VHS kids movies as an offer. I had multiple replies from people who were interested in getting them, but one stuck out from the rest. A single mom of three kids. After exchanging a few emails between us, it became apparent she could use some more stuff and that money was tight for her. I had such fun going through my house to see what other items I could pass on to her and her kids. I ended up filling a black trash bag full of toys, clothes and movies and I felt so blessed to be able to offer a bag full of useful items for this family….and that really works for me!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. My girls also have usernames and passwords all over my desk which also helped prompt me to do something different. Their passwords are stored there as well.

I use to use freecycle all of the time. There are freecycles in each city. You can just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and do a search for freecycle and the city you live in such as McKinney and it will give you a list of all the freecycles that apply. You are able to register for all the freecycles within so many miles of where you live.
One time I got a 32 inch color Bose TV. It was AWESOME!
The cool thing about it is, you usually leave the stuff on your poarch in a box or bag and never have to talk to the people who are picking up.
