Dying Duet Dryer

We really haven’t owned the dryer all that long, in terms of how long these appliances should live. If I recall, we’ve had the Duet washer & dryer for four or five years. About two weeks ago, I was doing laundry as I normally do, took one load out and then hit the buttons to start the next load and I hear a click. Try it again, same thing. So my DH checks it out, as he’s a total DIY kind of guy. He’s great, so I have full confidence that my dryer will be working in no time. Well….as I mentioned, that was about two weeks ago. He’s worked on it, replaced a part or two, jabbed himself about 1 cm. away from his eye and probably should’ve gotten stitches, but he’s since recovered. He told me I’d have to turn it on and hit start then pause and repeat this until it’d start. So that was fine…I did it this way, however, it got to where I had to sit there and hit start / pause about ten times before it’d start, then as if it was playing a game with me, I’d take two steps out of the laundry room and it’d shut off! Talk about a waste of time! I told DH that I would really appreciate it if he’d get the part he thought it needed, so hopefully he’ll be on top of that asap. Today, the dryer took a new approach…on it’s own. It now stays running if the door is closed. Open the door, it stops, close the door, it begins spinning, but not heating unless I actually turn it on and hit start. What a freaky ordeal. Hopefully the dryer gets fixed and the washer doesn’t catch this sickness! I’ve managed to keep the laundry room fairly clean, though DH’s tools have been hanging out in there and I’m ready for them to go back to their home in the garage. If you’ve ever wondered what the dryer looks like with it’s top off, you can fulfill your curiosity. Pure excitement, I know.
